Angel Reese's absence continues; star forward misses third straight LSU game

Star player Angel Reese, named Most Outstanding Player of the 2023 Women's NCAA Tournament, was missing in the recent game for LSU.

The team also faced challenges as Sa'Myah Smith suffered a right knee injury early in the game, and LSU guard Kateri Poole was unavailable.

Despite the setbacks, LSU managed to secure a win against Niagara at the Cayman Islands Classic.

Angel Reese did not travel with the team to the Cayman Islands, and Coach Kim Mulkey expressed uncertainty about her return.

The game had a rocky beginning with a fire alarm during warm-ups, leading to a brief evacuation and a 40-minute delay.

Angel Reese has not played since being benched on November 14, described by Mulkey as a "coach's decision."

Coach Mulkey emphasized the importance of handling locker room issues privately to protect her players, acknowledging the challenges of coaching.

Despite a tough start to the season, LSU has won six consecutive games. The team is scheduled to play Virginia next and return home to host Virginia Tech.
